The film is the second part of Park’s "Vengeance Trilogy." It argues that revenge is a recursive loop. By the time Dae-su learns the truth, his vengeance has already been turned against him. Woo-jin’s revenge is complete, yet he gains no peace—only a mirror of his own pain.
