In Nepali culture, "Putali" statues (also called "Putali Dar") are protective wooden figures from the Terai and western Nepal, placed to ward off evil spirits. The greeting statues are a common form of Putali. There are also Putali Maharani photographs in the Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya archives. It's very important not to confuse the cultural term "Putali" with the offensive slang "puti."
