Released in 2005, Zhmurki (translated as "Blind Man’s Bluff") is a co-written and directed by Aleksey Balabanov . The film is a satirical, hyper-violent take on the "wild east" era of Russia in the 1990s, a time when the collapse of the Soviet Union led to unchecked capitalism, rampant corruption, and brutal gang wars.
