The artist known as Duvy was born Tafari Minott in Toronto, Ontario, in 1999. Growing up in the neighborhood—specifically a community known as the Grasswayz or "Connections"—he was exposed to a gritty and often dangerous environment that would heavily influence his music. This area, plagued by high crime and gang presence, was both his home and the harsh backdrop for his artistic development.
