The following night, Snežana again insisted on hearing the truth. Hidden under the cover of darkness, the swan finally confessed its secret: “Everything around me is white—the trees, the sky, the animals, and even you, my little Snow Queen. I alone am black as night. That is the source of my sorrow.”
