Obey Melanie - New Portable

Obey Clothing was born out of a passion for art, music, and skate culture. Michael Quinn, a fine art student at the time, was inspired by the skateboarding and surfing communities, which heavily influenced his designs. The brand's early days were marked by Quinn's DIY approach, where he would screenprint t-shirts and sell them at local skate shops. The brand's name, Obey, was inspired by a 1980s sticker campaign featuring an image of President Reagan with the words "Obey" and "Reagan" printed on it. This sticker was a satirical commentary on the government's control over its citizens, which resonated with Quinn's artistic vision.
