The movie begins with Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as a successful neurosurgeon who is arrogant and self-absorbed. However, his life takes a drastic turn when he is involved in a car accident that leaves him with a damaged hand. Unable to perform surgery, Strange becomes obsessed with finding a cure and travels to Kathmandu, Nepal, in search of a mystic who can help him.
